Seekers require more energon than an average bot. Their bodies turn half of the energon to jet fuel, to ensure they escape incase attacked. The other half is used the same way regular bots use it, but then the seeker is left with only a portion of the energon. Therefore they get less nutrition then the rest of the bots. Seekers are a very delicate race, they need to be taken care of properly or their body goes into stasis lock.
